Sale Report
AGAINST THE ODDS
Despite the now obvious slow down in property sales you would assume the chattels i.e. house contents being sent forward for sale would also decrease, this however does not seem to be the case at Wotton Under Edge where a full saleroom met with enthusiastic bidding. Fuel prices too seem to be playing a role, buyers are happy to travel a long distance to a saleroom that can provide a large and regular supply of quality items and disregarding those that can not.
It was an early 18th century London longcase clock in a floral marquetry case that made the running, the movement and dial were in good order, the case however had been subject to restoration, none the less it doubled expectations to sell for £5,200 and is destined to return to the descendants of the original maker by the name of Marwick. |
